Aaliyah’s Solar Eclipse POV

The first Solar eclipse I ever witnessed was the August 21st, 2017 Solar eclipse. I was in 5th grade, and my teacher planned her whole lesson around the solar eclipse. Despite feeling a little nervous, I also was very excited to witness this historical event.

My teacher hands me and all my classmates these… ‘sunglasses?’ I said. “Not just any sunglasses”, says Ms Nguyen, “these are solar eclipse glasses, and they allow you to see the exact moment when the moon blocks the sun”. She explains to us that we must keep these Solar eclipse glasses on in order to protect our vision. The moments leading up to the eclipse are the moments I will never forget.

This April 8th 2024 solar eclipse brought back so many memories, and this was all what I could think about the entire day. When I heard that Mr Holenbach was handing out glasses for all the students who wanted to see the eclipse I got super excited.

Monday, April 8th was a clear sunny day, and the eclipse was clearly seen from Denver, Colorado. After I watched the eclipse, Logan and I went to the field and played some volleyball. While playing, Logan accidentally caught a glimpse of the eclipse without his special glasses. “My eyes are actually watering so bad right now.”, said Logan.

With the Solar Eclipse glasses wrapped around my camera I took a picture of the sun and moon on the last phase of the eclipse. April 8th, of 2024 seemed unreal, and im glad I got to see another both the 2017 and 2024 solar eclipse.
